Commits
Every committed change to a workbook is kept, with a number, a hash and a message.
The workbook in the editor is a draft until it is committed. Commit stores it as the problem’s new head:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Number | #1, #2, … in order. |
| Hash | 12 hex digits (the first 7 are shown) identifying the commit, computed from its parent’s hash, the YAML, the message, the author and the time. |
| Parent | The commit it follows. |
| Message | What changed, written by its author (optional). |
| Author and time | Who committed it, and when. |
Rules:
- The YAML must parse and must differ from the head’s.
- Nothing is overwritten. To go back, open a commit on the Commits tab and choose Make this commit the head again: that makes a new commit with the old YAML.
- Run works on the draft, committed or not; the dashboard and new artifacts use commits.
- Discard changes returns the editor to the head.
