Artifacts and sharing
An artifact shares a problem as it was at one commit. It holds:
- its own title and Markdown description (they start as the problem’s);
- the commit’s workbook YAML;
- every node’s output from running that commit with the parameters' defaults;
- the dashboard layout.
Whoever opens it sees that snapshot. Nothing runs again when an artifact is opened, so it always shows the same result, quickly, and costs nothing to view.
Each artifact has an unguessable link:
https://ridgital.com/armenia-in-data/lab/a/<token>
Who can open it
| Visibility | Who can open it | Must sign in |
|---|---|---|
| Only me | Its owner. | Yes |
| People I choose | Its owner and the members of the owner’s team picked by name. | Yes |
| My team | Everyone on the owner’s team: the customer organisation, or Ridgital’s staff. | Yes |
| Anyone with the link | Anyone, signed in or not. | No |
Viewing is all an artifact allows. To change the work, a team member who may edit the problem chooses Open in ARMID Lab on the artifact’s page, edits and commits the workbook there, and then refreshes the artifact.
A visitor who is not signed in and opens an artifact that needs a sign-in is asked to sign in and returns to it afterwards.
Snapshots and data
- A snapshot taken for Anyone with the link uses public data only: published ARMID series and grid cells, as a customer sees them. Nodes that read unpublished series show an error in it.
- Customers’ snapshots always use public data.
- Code nodes run in the browser of whoever creates or refreshes the artifact; their results are stored with the snapshot.
- Each stored table keeps up to 20,000 rows.
Keeping an artifact current
When the problem’s head moves past the artifact’s commit, the artifact shows behind the head. Refresh to the head takes the snapshot again at the head commit; Sharing and settings can also pick another commit, change the title, description or visibility, and choose the people.
Deleting an artifact makes its link stop working. Deleting a problem deletes its artifacts.
Listing on Armenia In Data
Ridgital staff can list an artifact that anyone with the link may open. Listed artifacts appear on the Armenia In Data page and in search engines; all others are reached only by their link and are not indexed.
